Meet The Stories That Form Us Guest Tami Moore
Tami Moore is a photographer, storyteller, and deeply reflective artist whose work invites people to be fully present—not only in the light, but in their lives. In this episode of The Stories That Form Us, we revisited a brand shoot that changed us both, and reflected on how storytelling, healing, and place are often more intertwined than we think.
Our conversation moved through the West, wild horses, big skies, creative expression, and the emotional weight of transition. We both came from the East Coast—Tami from Pennsylvania, me from Vermont—where the land feels dense, intimate, and welcoming. There’s a softness to the hills and forests there, a familiarity that holds you. But the West? It’s different. The West is vast. Exposed. Unapologetically wild. And in that wildness, something opens. Something expands. It can be disorienting at first. But over time, it reveals who we really are when there’s nothing left to hide behind.
Where our conversation led us was less about the images themselves and more about the permission we both gave ourselves that day. To be in it, to see what emerged, to follow what felt right.
A Few Themes That Rose to the Surface:
Creativity is a channel for healing
Tami shared the story of leaving a long marriage and taking to the road with nothing but a dog, a tent, a journal, and her cameras. What she found along the way was peace, purpose, and a new home in the wild beauty of the West. Photography became her voice—and through it, she began speaking new truths into her own life.
Place can crack us open in the best way
We both know what it means to come from a place that holds you and step into one that asks you to hold yourself. The West has shaped us. Its quiet, its light, its space—it offers something both humbling and exhilarating. It calls you into a new kind of presence. And that presence has become central to the way we each approach our work.
Storytelling, when done well, becomes a form of stewardship
Tami’s approach to storytelling is rooted in reverence. She doesn’t force anything. She waits. She watches. She listens. Whether she’s photographing shelter dogs, families, wild horses, or creative women, she creates space for people to be seen. And in doing so, she becomes not just a photographer—but a witness. A steward of the stories that unfold.
Through the Lens of Story
At Unbridled Form, I believe your brand—and your life—is shaped by the stories you carry, the ones you’re still discovering, and the ones you feel called to live into. This conversation with Tami reminded me that we don’t always need to push the story forward. Sometimes, we just need to hold it gently. To trust the slow reveal. To honor the in-between.
If you’ve seen the brand photos of me standing in a Wyoming basin with my hair whipping in the wind—that was Tami. And I felt more like myself that day than I had in a long time.
